Navigator’s Log
We are now into the Lenten season which for
many of
us is a time we give up something, make a small sacrifice or offer up prayers for
special intentions. These acts bring us closer to the meaning of the season and
help prepare us for Christ’s journey, the Holy Tridium and His Resurrection. During
this time we start by wearing the cross of ashes, attend the Stations of The Cross
and reconciliation. To an outsider what we do may seem to be morbid or depressing,
but for those of us fortunate to be Catholic, it is a time of great renewal and
preparation for the Easter is near. This brings us the promise that we will be with
Him and that He is with us always. Take time during these next few weeks to reflect
on Christ’s promise and His ultimate sacrifice to insure that we will be with him
forever if we just follow Him. This season renew your commitment to follow Him and
you will have peace and joy.
On Thursday 2/7/08 members of the Assembly went to the Wounded Warrior’s unit at
Madigan to present our “Sweats for Vets” a 144 sets were delivered as our first
installment. The group headed by Faithful Admiral Dave Caton were given a complete
tour of the unit and met with some of the wounded veterans. I have enclosed a picture of the Sir Knights that went and some of the soldiers they met. Look into the eyes
of the Sir Knights and you will see the true joy of giving and the pride they have
in supporting those who have given so much to insure or freedom. Please come to
the next Assembly meeting on Wednesday 2/27/08, 7:30pm at St. Philomena and hear
about the great day. We will be setting up another trip to deliver the balance of
the sweats and give you a chance to be part of the event. Please remember to recruit
a new 4th Degree
member we can only continue to serve by adding to our ranks.
On a closing note I am asking all Sir Knights help in notifying our Color Corps
Commander as soon as possible of events that request a Color Guard. With the exception
of funerals most events are planned months in advance, but the parishes are not
notifying the commander until a few days before the event. This puts a great burden
on him and makes it difficult to contact members and insure that we have a guard
available. Please look at your parish schedules and if they require an Assembly
Guard let Ray Garcia know. Contact Ray at marye_g@comcast.net If you can consider
joining the Color Corps, we can loan you regalia to get you started.

Captain's Corner
Happy New Year! This is the time of year that traditionally people make resolutions.
Some are kept, some last awhile and others just get forgotten. If you don’t have
a resolution or the ones you made have no chance, I thought I would give you an
easy list to pick from.
Pray the Rosary daily.
Tell your spouse that you love them a least once a day.
Buy some flowers just because.
Volunteer some time to help others in need.
Attend every Assembly meeting during the year.
Tell your parish priest, Thanks for all they do for us and keep
them in your prayers.
Bring in a new 4th degree member.
Bring in a new Knight of Columbus.
Join the Assembly Color Corps.
Pray for our Troops and their families.
Be thankful that we live in the USA and have the freedom not to
keep resolutions.
On another note, The Fulton J Sheen Assembly 1845 in Spanaway has invited our assembly
members to attend their annual Formal Social. It will be held on Saturday February
16, 2008. Cocktails at 4pm, dinner at 5pm. The cost is $25.00 per person. For further
information contact Rick Collins, Faithful Captain at 253-380-8112.
